Here is a beautiful song by Bassekou Kouyate and N’goni Ba recorded at our studio for a memorial service for BBC presenter Charlie Gillette.
Charlie was a big supporter of Malian Music and Bassekou Kouyate. On the evening that we recorded this song Bassekou reminisced about how proud and emotional Charlie was after Bassekou received the award for BBC World Music Album of the Year. “He was my big brother and a true friend of Africa”, Bassekou said tearfully.
